www.pros.com 2 The PROS Platform The airline business has changed forever — grappling with the effects of a global pandemic that shutdown travel and tourism around the world. Though data is constantly shifting due to changes in government restrictions and travel policies, industry experts such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have predicted airlines will continue to burn cash into 2022 and will not see the high mark of travel demand equivalent to 2019 for another three to four years. 1 I N T R O D U C T I O N To survive the next few years of uncertainty, airlines will need to be laser focused on reducing costs, raising liquidity, and adopting profitability-driven growth. Airline leaders have a unique, but difficult, opportunity to create a sharper and stronger recovery. To do so, they must increase productivity, streamline technology investments that will drive the customer experience and bring passengers back, while also evaluating long-term growth and short-term stability.
