Meet David Mendez, Senior Manager, Professional Services and PRO musician! \ud83c\udfb8<\/p>\n

David oversees the smooth delivery of Professional Services projects, ensuring they stay on track and provide top-notch value while aligning teams and resources with PROS strategic goals. He also leads and mentors a team of Implementation Consultants, Customer Solution Owners, and Project Managers, guiding them to excel and grow in their roles.<\/p>\n

Let’s get to know David!<\/p>\n

Tell us about your journey to PROS.<\/h2>\n

I first heard about PROS back in college while I was studying in Monterrey, Mexico. PROS had a booth at a career fair I attended, and, although I was hoping to find an internship, they were only hiring full-time roles at the time.<\/p>\n

About eight years later, I was working in a Support Operations role at a major investment bank in Houston and started thinking it was time for a change. I remembered that software company from the career fair and decided to look them up. I saw they had an opening on the Support team, applied, went through multiple interviews, and got the offer for my initial role in 2015. That\u2019s how I got started at PROS! Ten years later, I still love what I do every day!<\/p>\n

\"David<\/p>\n

What do you enjoy most about working at PROS?<\/h2>\n

One thing I always tell people is that I\u2019ve never had a boring day at PROS. At first, I thought this might have been because of my role on the Support team, where every day brought a new set of customer tickets to work through. But when I moved into Professional Services, I realized it was the same type of environment, just with its own distinctive style.<\/p>\n

Every project and implementation is unique, and that keeps things interesting. What I enjoy most is the mix of problem-solving and collaboration. I get to work with all types of teams and people across PROS to build smart, high-quality solutions for our customers. That variety and teamwork are definitely my favorite parts of the job.<\/p>\n

Tell us about a cool project you are working on.<\/h2>\n

That\u2019s a tough one because honestly, every project at PROS is pretty cool! When I was working with airlines in PROS Travel, those projects were super interesting and definitely kept me on my toes. Now that I\u2019ve been in B2B for over a year, I\u2019m seeing a whole new side of things.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s really exciting is how our solutions fit into so many different industries. Each B2B project feels like opening a new chapter in a business playbook. I get to learn how pricing works in completely different environments, and it\u2019s always something new. It keeps things fresh and makes the work really rewarding.<\/p>\n

\"David<\/p>\n

What do you do outside of work to recharge?<\/h2>\n

I do a few things to recharge, but my day pretty much has to start at the gym. It helps me stay energized and ready for whatever comes next. Outside of work, things can get pretty busy. I have a 13-year-old daughter and an almost 10-year-old son, so there\u2019s always something going on. Some weekends feel like a real juggling act, especially when my daughter has a ballet competition and my son a basketball tournament at the same time. At this point, I\u2019m seriously thinking about adding \u201cfamily logistics coordinator\u201d to my resume.<\/p>\n

When we\u2019re not running around, we love trying out new restaurants and coffee spots. It\u2019s our way of slowing down, spending time together, and enjoying some good food. I\u2019m also really into grilling and love experimenting with new recipes or appetizers whenever I get the chance. It\u2019s one of my favorite ways to relax and get creative with food.<\/p>\n

\"David<\/p>\n

What are you a PRO at? What do your coworkers go to you for?<\/h2>\n

I\u2019ve been playing electric bass for over 20 years, so music is definitely one of my passions. But what I\u2019m really a PRO at is hearing a song and figuring out what key it\u2019s in. Most of the time, I can jump in and play it on bass, guitar, or piano without needing sheet music. I\u2019ve developed a pretty good level of something called \u201cperfect pitch.\u201d It\u2019s not flawless, but it\u2019s solid enough that I can hear something on the radio, get home, and start playing it right away. I\u2019ve also built a bit of a reputation as a foodie. People often ask me for restaurant recommendations, not just in Houston but in other cities or countries. I\u2019ve traveled to over 20 countries, so I usually have a list ready with great food and coffee places.<\/p>\n

At PROS, people come to me for all kinds of things. I\u2019m always happy to help, whether it\u2019s something technical like Unix commands, SQL, or scripts, or just offering a second opinion on how to approach a tricky issue. I\u2019ve also built strong relationships over time, so a lot of folks reach out for mentoring or career advice, which I really enjoy. Even though I\u2019m not part of the IT department, I\u2019ve somehow become the unofficial tech support for things like screen projection issues, Windows quirks, or random connectivity problems. If something\u2019s acting up, there\u2019s a good chance someone will swing by my desk or ping me for help. So, whether it\u2019s fixing a script or finding the best tacos in Mexico City, I\u2019ve got you covered!<\/p>\n

\"David<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the best career advice you\u2019ve ever received?<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s hard to pick just one piece of career advice because I\u2019ve been lucky enough to work with some amazing people and leaders who\u2019ve constantly pushed me to grow. One thing that really sticks with me lately is the idea that people might forget what you did or what you said, but they\u2019ll never forget how you made them feel.<\/p>\n

That mindset applies to any role, whether you\u2019re making coffee or leading a company. I truly believe that being intentional about how you treat and work with others is what creates a better workplace and a stronger community.<\/p>\n
