Meet\u00a0<\/span>Kalin Vitkov<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Vice President of Cloud Operations<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>sci-fi\/fantasy enthusiast<\/span>!\u00a0<\/span>\ud83e\uddd9\u200d\u2642\ufe0f<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span><\/p>

Kalin leads global teams across the US and Europe responsible for the performance, reliability, and financial efficiency of the PROS cloud ecosystem spanning four key disciplines: Cloud Fabric (SRE), FinOps, Cloud PMO, and Cloud Development. Together, his team ensures PROS cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, and cost-optimized to support the company\u2019s growth and innovation goals.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Tell us about your journey to PROS.<\/h2>

My career in technology began early, graduating from a specialized boarding high school as a database developer, trained under university professors. That foundation set a clear direction toward IT \u2013 a path\u00a0<\/span>I\u2019ve<\/span>\u00a0followed with purpose ever since. University studies deepened my technical\u00a0<\/span>expertise<\/span>\u00a0and sharpened my engineering mindset. Over time, hands-on experiences across different areas of IT naturally evolved into leadership opportunities. Transitioning into management required a new perspective and skill set, but it quickly became clear that this was where I could have the greatest impact.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

I joined PROS after several years at\u00a0<\/span>Vayant<\/span>\u00a0Travel Technologies, about a year before its acquisition by PROS. I was drawn to the organization\u2019s disciplined, research-driven approach to decision-making \u2013 something that deeply resonated with me. At the time, I was pursuing my MBA and\u00a0<\/span>had conducted<\/span>\u00a0a financial analysis of PROS, which revealed both strong potential and operational challenges. I knew it was the right environment to contribute meaningfully and grow further as a leader.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

What do you enjoy most about working at PROS?<\/h2>

What I enjoy most about working at PROS is being part of its journey. When I look back to where we started,\u00a0<\/span>it\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0incredible to see how much the company has grown and evolved. What makes it truly special is knowing that our team has played a real part in that transformation.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

We\u2019ve<\/span>\u00a0built something meaningful together \u2013 not just improved operations, but a culture where people strive for collaboration, innovation, and genuinely care about making an impact. That sense of shared purpose and progress is what keeps me motivated every day.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Tell us about a cool project you are working on.<\/h2>

I\u2019m<\/span>\u00a0currently working on splitting\u00a0<\/span>PROSCloud<\/span>, which has been both a significant technical challenge and\u00a0<\/span>a really exciting<\/span>\u00a0opportunity. \ud83d\ude0a\u00a0<\/span>It\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0pushing us to rethink how things\u00a0<\/span>operate<\/span>\u00a0behind the scenes, and\u00a0<\/span>I\u2019m<\/span>\u00a0enjoying the problem-solving and collaboration that comes with it.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

What do you do outside of work to recharge?<\/h2>

I\u2019d<\/span>\u00a0say my best investment has been my e-book reader.\u00a0<\/span>I\u2019ve<\/span>\u00a0always loved Science Fiction and Fantasy, and reading is how I unwind and recharge. When I have the time, I like to build display ships (a great mix of focus and creativity), though my latest project has been sitting unfinished for a while now\u2026<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

What are\u00a0<\/span>you<\/span>\u00a0a PRO at? What do your coworkers\u00a0<\/span>go to you<\/span>\u00a0for?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>

There\u2019s\u00a0no big secret or hidden talent \u2013 just the fact that I genuinely enjoy working out.\u00a0I\u00a0make time\u00a0for it a few mornings each week, and staying consistent has become something\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0really proud\u00a0of.\u00a0It keeps me energized and balanced.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Coworkers\u00a0often come to me when they want an honest, straightforward professional opinion. I try to be direct while still being supportive, and (I hope \ud83d\ude09) people see me as someone they can rely on for clear, candid feedback.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

What\u2019s the best career advice you\u2019ve ever received?<\/h2>

Back in 2008, while driving to the office I overheard a discussion on the radio that could be synthesized into, \u201cIn a world of ever-changing technologies, the way to convert your technical experience from liability into an asset is to go the management route.\u201d This lured me into testing the \u201cdark side of the force\u201d and proved how technical\u00a0<\/span>expertise<\/span>\u00a0combined with patient listening and open-minded decision-making helps build great teams.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
