PROS Holdings, Inc., a provider of sales effectiveness big data solutions, and Cameleon Software, a provider of multichannel, multi-device product configurator, quotes, proposals, and e-commerce software, have announced that PROS plans to acquire Cameleon in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately €24 million (U.S. $33 million), net of cash acquired. Cameleon CPQshould be a great addition to the PROS portfolio of big data solutions that drive sales growth.

Configure, price, and quote (CPQ) software streamlines and simplifies these activities. CPQ applications are also deployed to support self-service sales environments, whether business-to-consumer (B2C) or business-to-business (B2B). Gartner views price optimization and CPQ as two transformational sales effectiveness technologies that are also in the early mainstream adoption phase of the market.

Customers are looking for a solution that makes selling and quoting configured products simpler, easier, and more profitable. PROS will now have a single platform that combines the efficiency of sales execution with big data science to optimize lead-to-order, so customers won’t need to go to two sources. The merger also brings together two key decisions in the sales process—the exact product configuration and price.

Both PROS and Cameleon Software have been SAP and salesforce.com’s partners. The only common customer the two companies currently have is Tyco, which should mean lots of upsell and cross-sell opportunity after the deal is done.

PROS intends to retain the Cameleon team under the leadership of Cameleon founder, president, and CEO Jacques Soumeillan, who would lead the Cameleon CPQ product line. It also intends to retain the Cameleon brand.
