Why More Companies Are Keen to Step Up Local Production

A year after panic buying and shortages exposed the nation’s reliance on offshore supply chains, the boss of Kimberly-Clark’s operations in Australia is not surprised a big number of manufacturers are eyeing a home run.

A new survey shows most manufacturing executives want to restore or boost onshore capacity in the next three years in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

The survey showing a massive swing in sentiment towards onshore capacity was commissioned by the Australian arm of New York Stock Exchange-listed software provider PROS, which has manufacturing clients across food and grocery, chemicals, energy, metals and other sectors in Australia.
