Meet the PROS: Jennifer Chang

In celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, our PROS are sharing how they #InspireInclusion.

From intern to Senior Sales Enablement Manager, meet Jennifer Chang, a 10-year veteran at PROS, fantasy football fan and champion of inclusion. Outside of onboarding new B2B Sales hires and facilitating ongoing enablement for the broader B2B Sales team, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her Mini Australian Shepherd named Cooper, and Maltese Poodle named Doug.

In honor of International Women’s Day, Jennifer shares her insights into the importance of inclusion, creating spaces for all voices to be heard and setting boundaries.

Let’s get to know Jennifer!

Tell us about your journey to PROS.

I did an internship at PROS the summer between my Junior and Senior year at Rice University, and I was immediately drawn to the people and culture. PROS offered me a full-time position after completing my internship, and after interviewing with a few other big consulting firms, I decided to accept the offer because where else could I work with some of the largest enterprise companies and make such a huge impact, and do it while working in a “start-up” atmosphere, where you are allowed ownership and responsibility, even as an entry-level employee? Nearly 11 years later, I am still so grateful to be in the position I am.

How do you actively ensure that all voices, including women’s, are heard and valued in the workplace?

A simple – but impactful – way of doing this is asking for their opinion and actively listening to their response, whether that’s in a 1-on-1 setting or a larger group meeting. In my experience, especially as a woman working in largely male-dominated teams, it is not in my nature to speak out or over people, but by asking specific questions, it immediately gives that person the space to be heard and feel valued.

How do you balance work and personal life, and what support systems should organizations provide for working women?

Balancing work and personal life has never been my strong suit, and I genuinely applaud and admire women who have children and/or families on top of their work. I think it’s all about setting boundaries, and promoting an environment within your team that respects other people’s boundaries.

What practical steps can women take to challenge themselves and step outside their comfort zones for personal and professional growth?

Imposter syndrome is a real thing, and something I have struggled with in and outside of the workplace. Realizing that it can affect all aspects of the way I think – whether that’s not giving myself enough credit for things that I do or giving other people more credit just because their opinions are louder – is a really important step to proactively challenging those negative thoughts. This can feel uncomfortable at times, but it can really make a big difference.

What are you a PRO at?

Fantasy football!
