Meet the PROS: Jeremy Gonzales

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our Latino and Hispanic PROS are sharing how their experiences and culture have influenced their careers.

From crunching numbers in healthcare to exploring a new challenge in tech, meet Jeremy, Senior Financial Analyst! When he’s not analyzing financial data, preparing forecasts and budgets, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making at PROS, you’ll find Jeremy DJing during his free time outside of work.

We sat down with Jeremy to talk about traditions, values and career advice that has influenced his career.

Let’s get to know Jeremy!

Tell us about your journey to PROS.

Prior to my time at PROS, I spent the first several years of my finance career in San Antonio working in the medical device and healthcare industry. After spending some rewarding years in my hometown, I decided to make the move to Austin and make the switch to the tech industry. Following my first taste of this new and exciting industry, I wanted to expand my skillset further and take on new challenges.

While pursuing this new goal of mine early last year, I had decided to make the move to Houston for a new change of scenery. This is where I began to hear more about all the great things PROS had to offer as a company. Hearing this incited me to pursue the role on their FP&A team. After meeting the team and getting a great sense of the amazing culture at PROS, I knew immediately that this was the team for me!

What cultural background or heritage do you identify with?

I am a 2nd generation American of Mexican descent. My grandfather had immigrated to the United States from Nuevo Leon as a young teenager initially to Michigan for work. He eventually made his way to Texas where the rest of my family has resided for several generations.

How has your culture influenced/shaped your values and work ethics?

Hearing my grandparents’ stories and the challenges they had to overcome during their early lives to give us the lives we have today, it motivated me and inspired me to push through any challenge that comes my way. It taught me that regardless of the hand that is dealt to you, if you work hard enough that success will eventually come. That has shaped me into the person I am today and reminds me to keep pushing forward!

Share a cultural tradition, holiday or custom from your culture that you cherish and celebrate.

Celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve has been an ongoing tradition in my family for multiple generations. We essentially all get together at our relatives and spend the night enjoying our company while enjoying various Mexican dishes. We then wait until midnight to celebrate and exchange gifts to finish off the night!

What attracted you to PROS, and how does it align with your personal values?

What initially attracted my interest in moving over to PROS was the commitment to their “people first” culture. Once I was able to meet more of the team, you can feel that PROS is true to their words and wants the best for their people of all backgrounds. I truly believe that these principles help push employees to their greatest potential and gives PROS the opportunity to continue to innovate!

What is the most valuable career advice you’ve received?

The best career advice that has always stuck with me was to never stop learning. Being in a world where every part of our life is constantly changing, embracing continuous learning opportunities has been incredibly beneficial in my career in both adapting and adding a new perspective. Since receiving that advice early in my career, I make sure to keep a curious mind and find any opportunity to add value wherever I can.
