Meet the PROS: Maria Georgieva
In celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, our PROS are sharing how they #InspireInclusion.
A traveler, adventurer and 2023 PROS President’s Club honoree, meet Maria, Talent Acquisition Manager of EMEA at PROS. Celebrating her 3-year ‘PROS-versary’ next month, Maria manages a team of four amazing women, answering all EMEA recruitment needs for our business and improving the candidate experience. Outside of PROS, you’ll find Maria traveling the world, visiting new places or planning her next destination. Of the 20+ countries she’s visited, her hometown Etropole, a little town with a population of 5,000 high in the mountains, is the place she loves the most.
In honor of International Women’s Day, Maria shares valuable ways to amplify voices, balance work and personal life, and step out of your comfort zone.
Let’s get to know Maria!
Tell us about your journey to PROS.
I had some friends working at PROS, and they shared great things particularly about the culture. I also wanted to get into a Product company so when I saw a role available, I decided to apply. One of the best decisions I’ve made so far!
Since my time here, I’ve experienced significant growth and transformation. Moving from being part of a small team in a site with 150 employees to a team of five and a site of 300 employees indicates substantial changes within the organization. Reflecting on this journey can be quite rewarding as it highlights personal and organizational progress over time. My proudest achievement is being recognized as a PROS 2023 President’s Club honoree. I am excited to experience President’s Club this year and add Mexico to my list of traveled destinations!
How do you actively ensure that all voices, including women’s, are heard and valued in the workplace?
It requires a multifaceted approach that involves both organizational policies and individual actions, such as promoting gender diversity, creating safe spaces for dialogue, leading by example and celebrating achievements. I personally recognize and celebrate the contributions of women in the workplace through awards, events, and public recognition, and highlight success stories and role models to inspire others and reinforce the importance of gender diversity.
How do you balance work and personal life, and what support systems should organizations provide for working women?
That is a topic where I can share a lot, but I am happy that PROS is a place where you can balance perfectly your work and personal life and be able to unplug and recharge. The three simple things that every person should do in order to achieve that balance are: prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and practice self-care.
What practical steps can women take to challenge themselves and step outside their comfort zones?
Everyone, no matter gender, age, culture or background, can follow the same best practices to help them step outside of their comfort zone. Actions like setting goals, taking risks, seeking feedback, expanding your network or simply trying something new are ways every person can grow, develop and achieve his/her dreams.
What are you a PRO at?
Vacation planning! The country I am certainly going to visit again is Indonesia. The planning was a real pleasure as I managed to get familiar with their culture, traditions, and must visit places, but the actual experience – the people, their respect for every living thing and of course the nature that surrounds you is mind-blowing! I am highly recommending this destination to every person who loves to travel!
