About Philippines Airlines
Philippine Airlines sprung to life with a noble mission – to be a partner in nation-building. PAL first took to the skies on March 15, 1941, using a five-seater Beech model 18 aircraft amid the spectre of global war. That flight earned for PAL the distinction of being Asia’s first airline. Since then, PAL etched numerous firsts in local commercial aviation.
PAL’s trend-setting service on ground and inflight continues to set the standard of excellence in airline service even after 75 years. PAL keeps in step with technological advancements to maintain those standards, such as acquiring the latest aircraft types with cabins equipped with luxurious amenities. Today, the PAL fleet consists of 79 aircraft – Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A340, A330, A321, Bombardier Q400 and Q300.
PAL is the first Philippine-based carrier certified safe by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and only airline with business class in domestic service.
As PAL marks 75 years this 2016, the country’s first flag carrier hatched a new corporate vision – to be a five-star, full-service airline. In support of this goal, a new brand philosophy was unveiled, embodying warm and caring service that can only come from the Heart of the Filipino. This new brand equity projects PAL as the showcase of the best of Filipinos.
