Houston Business Journal: Major Houston Software Company Makes Big Acquisition

October 24, 2013-

By Molly Ryan

PROS Holdings Inc. (NYSE: PRO) revealed Thursday that it has entered into a $33 million acquisition Cameleon Software, a French ecommerce software provider.

Houston-based PROS, which provides big data software for businesses, has been growing rapidly for the past several years— in part due to the increasing demand for big data analytics.

Now, with the acquisition of Cameleon, PROS will add new “configure, price and quote” software, commonly known as CPQ, to its business. CPQ software helps companies supply prices and quotes for their services, PROS explained.

“PROS planned acquisition of Cameleon represents another step in our mission to help customers outperform,” Andres Reiner, PROS CEO and president, said in a statement. “The proposed addition of Cameleon’s market-leading CPQ solutions with PROS big data applications would offer a unique, end-to-end sales effectiveness solution that drives sales growth.”

Cameleon’s CEO and president Jacques Soueillan will remain with Pros after the acquisition and will continue to lead the company’s CPQ product line. PROS also plans to keep the Cameleon brand name.

PROS expects the transaction to close in the first quarter of 2014.
