Meet the PROS: Ezgi Eren

Meet Ezgi Eren, Senior Manager, AI Research - Science at PROS, and expert empath!

Ezgi and family

Ezgi is responsible for leading efforts to develop and advance AI-driven solutions. She collaborates with scientists and engineers to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and practical applications, ensuring PROS’ AI innovations drive real-world impact for customers.

Let’s get to know Ezgi!

Tell us about your journey to PROS.

I moved to the U.S. from Türkiye after college to pursue a PhD in Industrial Engineering, initially planning to return home and become a professor. However, my path shifted when I attended an INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences) Conference and was ultimately drawn to PROS' blend of technical rigor and real-world application. Inspired, I applied for a role and although I wasn’t selected on first try, I tried again the following year and got the job. I haven’t looked back since!

What are ways women can take ownership to accelerate action and foster inclusion in the workplace?

If you're excited about something but unsure whether you’ll succeed, step up and ask for it—don’t assume others will notice. Hearing “no” on occasion is better than never asking at all. This is especially important for women and certain personality types who tend to give more than they ask or feel they must over-qualify before pursuing opportunities. And when you see potential in others, regardless of who they are, encourage them to go for it!

What excites you about your career in AI?

Learning never stops in our field! At PROS, I get to work alongside incredibly smart and passionate people who genuinely love what they do, both in and outside of work. Being part of such a dynamic environment makes every day exciting!

What are you a PRO at?

Research! I love digging deep into a new field and solving the pieces of a puzzle. Recently, I transitioned from being an individual contributor to leading our research team, and I had no idea I would love it even more than what I used to do. It's rewarding to fuel others’ enthusiasm for research, support them, and learn from them! I am also a pro at reading emotions, which helps me help others, as everyone is wired with emotions, no matter how technical they may be.

How do you build a strong support system for work-life balance?

A support system full of loving and caring family and friends is important, but your positive attitude is your biggest support. I had my fair share of struggles from what life brough my way, and my love of math has always been a constant and therapeutic at times. I like keeping a positive attitude, adjusting my inner self-talk to show the compassion I show others to myself, when I forget to do so, as we tend to be harsher on ourselves. And I share that primarily with my husband, as we share the life together, along with all its joys and responsibilities. It is very comforting to know you have someone you can rely on and who cares deeply. We often tag team, which requires constant communication and openness, especially as we have a 7-year-old. We are honest with each other about our needs, and the best is ending the day with a talk to reflect on whatever uncertainty I may have with the person I trust the most.
