Meet the PROS: Jennie Nguyen

Meet Jennie Nguyen, Financial Analyst and pilates PRO! 🧘‍♀️

Jennie supports strategic decision-making at PROS by analyzing financial data and collaborating with business leaders to uncover insights that drive performance and growth. In her role, she focuses on simplifying complex metrics, building dynamic dashboards, and identifying opportunities to improve financial outcomes across teams.

Let’s get to know Jennie!

Tell us about your journey to PROS.

My professional journey felt like something out of a movie. I started in the biopharmaceutical industry, working on stem cell therapies during the pandemic! While it was meaningful work, I spent long hours alone in a lab and eventually had a bit of a quarter-life crisis. I realized I wanted to use my brain in a different way—something more collaborative, but still analytical and data-driven. So, I went back to school part-time while working full-time, this time focusing on accounting and finance. That led me to internships and co-ops in both internal and external audit. About two years into my audit career, I came to another realization: while it taught me a lot, it didn’t quite spark the passion I was looking for.

When I saw an opportunity at PROS for a finance rotational program, it stood out. I wasn’t exactly sure what the “perfect” role looked like yet, but I loved the idea of trying different things, gaining exposure to various areas, and continuing to explore where I thrive. Since joining PROS, I’ve learned so much and continue to every day. Getting to work alongside some of the brightest, kindest, and most curious people is truly the cherry on top!

What do you enjoy most about working at PROS?

What I enjoy most is how open and supportive people are. There’s a genuine culture of curiosity and encouragement here, which has allowed me to dive into projects that align with both my personal and professional interests. A few months ago, I even joined the Wellbeing Innovation Team, something I’m super passionate about!

In my current role, I love that I get to combine data with storytelling. There’s something really fulfilling about building tools or dashboards that help people see patterns clearly and make better decisions.

Tell us about a cool project you are working on.

I’ve been working on a PowerBI project aimed at modernizing how we benchmark key metrics between PROS and our peer companies. Previously, this process relied heavily on Excel—it was super manual and time-consuming. Now, we’ve transformed it into an interactive, dynamic dashboard that allows users to explore various metrics and competitors in just minutes. I’m currently expanding the tool with new visuals to highlight performance and growth metrics more effectively. It’s been such a fun challenge!

What do you do outside of work to recharge?

I’m a big advocate for health and well-being, so I’m always doing something to keep my mind and body active. I’m especially into reformer pilates and running—it’s the best way to start the day! I also love hiking, though Houston’s not exactly known for its mountains. So each year, I make it a point to visit 2–3 national parks with friends. This year, we’re heading to Mt. Rainier and hiking our way down the Oregon coast!

What are you a PRO at?

While I wouldn’t say I’m a huge PRO at it, I’m pretty proud that my Pilates instructor regularly asks me to demo moves for the class! I’ve been practicing reformer Pilates for about two years now, and I’ve worked my way up to feeling comfortable at the front of the room. It’s definitely a personal win for me!

At PROS, I think my coworkers come to me when they need someone who’s curious, quick to learn, and happy to dig into a project, especially if it involves data visualization or making something more efficient. I also try to bring a positive, can-do energy to everything I do, which I hope makes me a go-to for team collaboration and problem-solving.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve gotten is this: You are your biggest advocate. No one will know what you want or what you’re capable of unless you speak up. Whether it’s expressing interest in a project, asking to learn something new, or pushing for your own growth, you have to be the one to raise your hand.
