Meet Leslie Sarmiento, Instructional Designer II, and Wordle PRO! 🔠
Leslie designs and builds the On Demand platform training within our e-learning platform, PROS University, to ensure our customers and partners have the tools they need to succeed. She transforms complex product knowledge into engaging, easy-to-follow content that facilitates the adoption of our platform and ultimately leads to improved performance and the achievement of business goals.
Let’s get to know Leslie!
Tell us about your journey to PROS.
My current (and third!) career path as an Instructional Designer was inspired by a desire to create more balance in my life. While the goal may sound simple, the journey to get here was not. I began my career in healthcare as a Critical Care Registered Nurse, where I spent many years gaining invaluable experience working with all kinds of people and using science and technology to help others. While that work was incredibly meaningful, it left little room for creativity and design, which was the thing that truly fed my soul.
That realization led me to explore the other end of the spectrum by launching my own interior design business. Its success not only confirmed my passion for design, but also revealed a love for teaching, storytelling, and presenting ideas. Along the way, I realized how much I also missed working with technology. Ultimately, I knew I needed a career that blended technology, design, and education. That clarity led me to graduate school for Instructional Systems Design and Technology, a certification in Articulate 360, and finally to PROS!
What do you enjoy most about working at PROS?
What I enjoy most about working at PROS is being able to design and create learning experiences that genuinely help people grow and become better at what they do every day. Knowing that my work supports others in building confidence and skills is incredibly fulfilling.
I also love working with my team – THEY ARE THE BEST!!!
Tell us about a cool project you are working on.
Right now, I am working on developing an On Demand course for one of the workflows in Revenue Management. RM is such a complex product, but so essential to the success of our travel customers, and I love that I can take highly technical information and present it in a way that simulates a real-world scenario. Hopefully, it makes the content more relevant, more engaging, and easier to learn.
What do you do outside of work to recharge?
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my family! I absolutely love being a mom and cherish every opportunity to spend time with my two daughters, who are 22 and 16. I also LOVE karaoke!!
What are you a PRO at? What do your coworkers go to you for?
I am a PRO at playing WORDLE, haha, or any other nerdy word games!
My coworkers would probably say I’m also a graphic design PRO. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to design graphics for events, t-shirts, social media, and branding across many projects here at PROS. I love bringing ideas to life visually and helping teams tell their stories in a creative and meaningful way.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
“Define your own success,” although I cannot remember who originally said it. We are constantly surrounded by images and messages of what success is supposed to look like, but I encourage everyone to create their own vision of success and measure it by their own standards, not someone else’s.
