Let’s get to know Max!
Tell us about your journey to PROS.
The summer of my sophomore year in college, I interned at a small insurtech startup where I learned the basics of bug reporting and user story writing. From there, I joined a company specializing in acquiring FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) brands and ran their PPC ads. My early career mentor at the company was the head of product management for our internal ad performance tracking software. Through him, I got to understand more about product management and realized it was a great fit for me. I then joined an influencer marketing agency as an APM working on developing and maintaining their influencer management software. I enjoyed my time there, but I wanted to experience other industries which led me to finding PROS. I got to experience the passion the people at PROS had about their work through my interviews and the GSO engineering team.
What do you enjoy most about working at PROS?
I most enjoy working with the people at PROS. Everyone I’ve spoken to has such vast knowledge of the airline industry and is equally eager to share that knowledge. I love asking questions and learning as much as I can about this difficult to navigate industry. I’m learning new things every day.
Tell us about a cool project you are working on.
I am currently working on an AI Agents solution for our RTDP product that will streamline analysts’ workflows by helping to identify problem markets, creating fare strategies, and simulating those strategies. We hope that this agent can help newer analysts become power users and experienced analysts to become even more efficient and effective in completing their daily tasks.
What do you do outside of work to recharge?
I am a member of the second oldest continuously active men’s singing group in the US called the Apollo Club of Boston. We travel around the Greater Boston area performing for the public. We were recently invited to Fenway Park to sing the US & Canadian National Anthems at the Blue Jays vs. Red Sox game!
I also used to compete in state and national target archery tournaments in recurve and compound and have placed top three in the NJ State Outdoor Championships.
What are you a PRO at? What do your coworkers go to you for?
I love music and have played a variety of instruments throughout my life including violin, piano, drums, guitar, pipa, dizi, and more recently, vocals. I was a part of my university’s acapella group called the CSharp Singers and competed in the ICCA, which some might recognize as the competition featured in the movie “Pitch Perfect”.
At PROS, my coworkers come to me with anything related to spreadsheets. I recently developed a spreadsheet tool for analyzing our WTP model that allows you to compare system outputs with automatically calculated theoretical outputs.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Understand the “why” and not just the “how”. It’s great to know how a certain process is done in an organization or team, but it is even more valuable to understand why it is done that way.
