PROS Scientists to Present Revenue Management Research at POMS 2018 Conference
HOUSTON, April 30, 2018 – PROS® (NYSE: PRO), a cloud software company powering the shift to modern commerce, today announced that five members of its Science and Research Team have been selected to deliver presentations at the 29th Annual Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) Conference. This year’s conference will be held May 4-7 in Houston at the Hilton Americas Hotel.
Representing PROS will be Ezgi Eren, Ph.D., Ravi Kumar, Ph.D., Shigeru Tsubakitani, Ph.D., Darius Walczak, Ph.D., and Wei Wang, Ph.D.:
- Eren will chair a panel focused on the practice of revenue management and pricing. Panel members, with representatives from both the public and private sectors, include the University of South Carolina, Hertz, The Rainmaker Group, PROS Darius Walczak, Ph.D. and PROS Vice President, Transportation & Logistics, Zeke Ziliak. Together, they will address current trends and new directions in revenue management and pricing, bringing different perspectives from the solution provider and end user, and from industries including travel, hospitality and rental.
- Kumar will present research developed in collaboration with Walczak and Wang titled “Dynamic Programming Decomposition Approaches to the Network Pricing Optimization.” He will consider an alternative idea for solving the network revenue management problem based on product-based decomposition. Kumar will show novel solution approaches, tested against several resource-based decomposition models extensively deployed in the airline and the hotel industry.
- Tsubakitani will deliver a presentation titled “Optimizing Fleet Acquisition in the Car Rental Industry.” He will present a large-scale fleet acquisition optimization model, historically solved by decomposition with revenue functions at the demand side, and acquisition at the supply side due to the enormous size of the problem. His innovative approach combines the two sides into a single, large-scale acquisition model that is tractable with features that are attractive for applications.
- Wang will deliver a presentation titled “Joint Optimization of Expected Profit Contribution and Resource Utilization.” He will consider how to jointly optimize revenue and resource load factors in the airline industry using advanced optimization approaches. Wang will show how to efficiently balance the trade-offs between two competing flight KPIs – revenue and load factor – and provide airline customers with more scientific insights to enable better alignment with strategic business objectives.
“Artificial intelligence and machine learning are fueling next-generation solutions that enable customers to sell their products faster and more efficiently in the digital era,” said Royce Kallesen, Senior Director, PROS Science & Research Team. “Speed, precision and consistency are the cornerstones of modern commerce.
