Susanne Senoff, PROS Chief Information Security Officer, explains that to be resilient and defend against the new breed of cyber threats requires security to become part of the organizational culture.

When I started my position as CISO at PROS a year ago, one of the promises I made to my team and the organization was that security would move from being an isolated police function to becoming part of our culture. After all, we are living in one of the most challenging times when it comes to cybersecurity. There are reports of breaches nearly every day and the attacks are becoming more sophisticated and disruptive. And some threats come as a result of a security update gone awry, like we saw with the CrowdStrike update last week. This kind of incident has created a ripe environment where we are seeing scammers try to take advantage of panicked people and businesses.

To adapt our security defenses and respond to the new breed of attacks, we’ve worked hard investing the time and resources to accomplish our vision of cybersecurity excellence and make PROS products more secure than ever.

In the past year, we continued to reduce our attack surface by engaging cross-functional teams to further advance cloud security and detect and respond to address modern threats. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Recently, PROS was awarded one of the coveted CSO 50 awards for security innovation and business impact. We were pleased to be recognized, alongside other companies, such as Accenture, Adobe, Splunk, United Airlines, and others.

As I write this blog, I’m returning from a Silicon Valley CISO conference that I attended with approximately 100 of my peers, many from Fortune 100 companies. We heard talks by the CIA, FBI, Homeland Security, and more on threats we should expect in the coming years and what we need to be doing about it. We shared best practices and discussed how to remove fragility from the security in our companies.

Bottomline: security isn’t one and done. Just as we never stop innovating at PROS to deliver world-class solutions, we will continue innovating on the security front as well to accelerate our digital resilience so our customers can access and act on data more securely than ever.
